As I was perusing through some old blogs I had written many years ago I stumbled upon this blog and thought I would share it with you. I hope you enjoy this little reminder and feel free to share what you are grateful for today!

Have you ever caught yourself grumbling and complaining about the little things in life that always seem to need doing? You know the mundane things like dishes, laundry, washing the car, mowing the lawn and so on. I sure have. Then today I chanced upon a quote by Nancie J Carmody. “I am thankful for a lawn that needs mowing, windows that need cleaning, and gutters that need fixing because it means that I have a home… I am thankful for the piles of laundry and ironing because it means that my loved ones are nearby.” It really caused me to put things into the proper perspective.

I am in the process of moving and I hate the fact that I have to take the time to organize, sort through stuff and pack it all up. I have been grumbling and complaining about it a lot because I have too much stuff. But after I read this I came to the realization that I am so utterly selfish to be complaining in the first place. How many people in this world have nothing because it was taken away from them by a tragedy of some kind like war, terrorism, tornado or hurricane or maybe domestic abuse.

Then I looked back into my own past. As recently as only 5 years ago I moved to a city I had never been to knowing only one person with only 2 suitcases, my purse and a carryon and -$6.79 in my bank account in my attempt to get away from a marriage that has gone very wrong. Now 5 years later I have a successful business, live in a big house that is beautifully furnished and moving into an even bigger house so that my daughter and granddaughter can live with me and they can have their own suite, surrounded by a multitude of friends and I am complaining about a little inconvenience? How quickly we forget!

Well today I am thankful for so much. I am thankful for:

  • The rain that is now watering my pretty flowers outside

  • My friends who have brought me boxes and paper to wrap my belongings in

  • My daughters who have chosen to follow me to this new city

  • My sister who supported me through one of the most difficult times of my life

  • My daughter who blessed me with my granddaughter

  • For Nancie Carmody for her words of wisdom

  • To you for taking the time to read my blog

  • To God who has been there for every step of this journey in life and who carried me during those times of deepest pain (and left one set of footprints in the sand, HIS as he carried me)

  • But most of all my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who choose to give his life for me even though he knew I could be so ungrateful.

There is so much more that I am grateful but I will spare you the rest of my list but let me ask you this. What are you grateful for? I encourage you to take a moment and think about it, especially if you are having a challenging day. I promise that your attitude will turn into one of gratitude!

Be Blessed Today!!!
